Changes: Love From Under the Sea

Love From Under the Sea is a fanfiction and love story about Nazz as a mermaid princess who falls in love with a human named Edd after she rescues him from drowning and decides to become human in order to meet him.

Plot

The fanfiction begins with the Eds and Jonny with Plank as toddlers (like in "Every Which Way But Ed" and when Double D had recently first met Ed and Eddy) were out in the beach with their families (as well as Jimmy's parents, although Jimmy wasn't born yet). Double D is enjoying this trip as he was fascinated with oceans and marine life, along with Ed who brought his sea monster toys such as a giant squid to play. But Eddy, however, isn't and is grouchy, due to getting sand in his sandwich, being made into a sand castle by his older brother, getting pinched by a crab, and his quarter being taken by a seagull. After seeing Jonny and Plank doing their first diving for clams and finds an oyster containing a pearl, Eddy decides to find an oyster containing a pearl that'll make big cash as he believes they're worth it. So Eddy and reluctantly the other two Eds go searching around the beach to find oysters that might contain an oyster for his scam. The Eds first searched in a rocky tide pool by the waves, where Double D is marveled and fascinated in the sea creatures in it. Eddy finds it boring and is impatient as he wonders off to search, while Ed finds it cool and reminded him of the sea monsters he saw in the movies and comics. When Ed yells that he found something in the tide pool, Eddy bursts in excitement and throws his bucket, which accidentally hits and knocks Double D in the head, causing him to tumble and fell into the water. Double D struggles and cries to his friends as he was taken further and further away into the ocean by a current, while the "oyster" Ed found was a crab, much to Eddy's chagrin, which the angry crustacean pinches Eddy's nose. As he was swept farther and farther away into the ocean, Double D was unable to swim and nearly drowns as sinks into the depths unconscious, before he was rescued by someone.

During his unconsciousness, he hears a beautiful soft singing voice before he wakes up, encounters a pelican, and finds that he's laying on a rock offshore. There, he encounters and meets Princess Nazz Van Bartonschmeer, a beautiful cute mermaid of his age with blonde hair and the daughter of the sea king and sea queen who rule the merpeople in the Merkingdom, that saved him from drowning and was singing to him. This was a surprise to Double D as he encounters a real mermaid for the first time after all the fairytales and movies of them he saw. After they introduce with Double D telling that he was out at the tidepool being forced to find clams for Eddy's scam (which mermaid Nazz finds it kinda boring) before being taken to the ocean and nearly drowned while mermaid Nazz tells that she and her mother were out with some dolphins while the former explores the reef and plays with some butterflyfishes, mermaid Nazz comforts a scared Double D, reminding him that he's safe with her, and offers him to go exploring the ocean with her holding her hand. Reluctantly, Double D accepts and as they dove underwater, Double D was amazed to discover that he can breath underwater as long as he holds mermaid Nazz's hand. Together the two toddlers swim and explore the ocean, encountering

The Eds (who are teenagers) are out in the ocean on a boat Eddy calls the "S. S. Eds", fishing, sight seeing, and avoid being kissed and harassed by the Kanker sisters with Eddy being the ship's captain and Double D being fascinated with the ocean with its breeze, waves, and marine life. Double D is concerned that there could be a huge storm coming up tonight and destroy their ship. But Eddy tells his friend to chill and relax and enjoy their time out to sea, as well as claiming that the storm will miss them like the last one. After playing with the seagulls (in which one poops on Eddy's black hair, much to his chagrin), Ed claims from an old sailor that tells the Ed's about a sea king who rules the merpeople and that a mermaid may be waiting for them. But Eddy claims it be a "load of baloney" and continues to set sail. Double D continues looking out in the ocean with a sigh, while Ed pops in asks if there are mermaids out there or a "load of baloney" in the water. Double D exclaimed, "Well I don't know about mermaids or any folktales from sailors existing, Ed! But the ocean is a huge place! So who knows what might be lurking down in the depths!"

As Double D gazes out into the ocean, the scene changes to underwater in the ocean, viewing jellyfish, schools of fish, and a mother and baby humpback whale singing. Then we see mermaid Princess Nazz, who is also now a teenager, playing her harp and singing beautifully to the various fishes swimming to her as well as the oysters. She then plays with the fishes and her pet dolphin, Aqua

Trivia

This is a parody of the 1984 film Splash and the 1989 Disney film The Little Mermaid.
It is also based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, The Little Mermaid, but with a different and nice ending where the mermaid (Nazz) finally gets her prince (Edd), marries, and lives happily ever after.
